This year’s YCMEA Solo/Ensemble Festival will be held Saturday morning, February 17, 2007, starting at 8:00 AM and running until all performances are finished. The festival is open to any instrumental or vocal students in grades 5 - 12. Students will be expected to perform appropriate literature (no pop) with a difficulty level of at least grade 2.
Performances will be adjudicated on aspects of musicianship and stage presence as well as the suitability of the selections. The rating system will be as follows:
I. Superior
II. Excellent
III. Good
NG No Grade
Comments Only - available by teacher recommendation in advance. No rating will be given, only constructive comments.
Participating students will receive one of the above ratings, written adjudication sheets, short clinic with the adjudicator on their performance, and a certificate which corresponds with their rating.
Fees for the festival are as follows:
Solo $5.00 Ensemble $10.00
In addition there is a $10.00 fee for any director who is not a current member of Yuma County Music Educators’ Association.
All registration forms must be submitted by Friday, February 8, 2008.
A schedule should be available by Tuesday, February 19, 2008.
